Many parents come to me after years of feeling that something isn’t quite right. My assessments are designed to provide clarity, understanding, and practical next steps. I support children and adults to build confidence, improve self-esteem and develop strategies that help them succeed.
Hello, I’m Rebecca Barlow, an experienced Level 7 specialist dyslexia assessor based in Chiddingfold, Surrey. I assess children and adults across Godalming, Haslemere, Farnham, Guildford, Woking and surrounding areas.
My interest in supporting individuals with literacy difficulties began while working as a primary school teacher, where I saw firsthand how frustrating learning challenges can be for children who are bright and capable but struggling to access the curriculum.
This experience inspired me to undertake postgraduate specialist training with Dyslexia Action, qualifying as both a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor.
I founded Surrey Dyslexia Support in 2015 with the goal of helping individuals with learning differences understand how they learn best and reach their full potential.

Gain a clear understanding of learning strengths and difficulties through a comprehensive diagnostic assessment for children aged 8+and adults. The assessment explores a full range of cognitive and attainment areas and provides a formal diagnosis where appropriate. Reports are recognised by schools, colleges, universities, and employers, and include practical recommendations for support.

If you are concerned about literacy or maths difficulties, this focused assessment provides clear insight into the areas of need and how best to support progress. It is tailored to individual concerns and helps inform a practical support plan.

Help ensure fair access to exams by identifying the support a student needs to perform at their best. This assessment service is available for individuals, schools and colleges and includes completion of Form 8 paperwork where required.
