Initial Assessment

Before starting the tutoring process, Rebecca will carry out an initial assessment to assess your child’s current skill level.  Rebecca then uses this assessment to devise a personalised teaching programme to target gaps in learning. A summary report will be sent to you indicating areas that would benefit from tuition and strategies you can use to support these areas at home. Tuition sessions are one hour in length and cost £35 per hour.

Devising a unique programme

Rebecca is trained to use the ‘Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme’ and ‘Read Write Inc’. She uses the best elements from each of these programmes to create an individual multisensory programme which is matched to identified needs.

Rebecca’s tutoring covers the whole literacy spectrum (reading, spelling, handwriting, sentence construction, grammar and punctuation ) and focuses on developing study skills and working memory which will positively impact all subjects. Rebecca is also able to offer more general tuition and support children with maths if this is preferred.

Tutoring sessions are carried out in Rebecca’s home. This works well as a range of resources are at hand and children typically concentrate better when away from home distractions.  Parents are welcome to watch the session or drop off and pick up later.

Progress tracking

Rebecca will set targets for your child which will be shared with you and them.  Rebecca produces regular reports to update you on your child’s progress and next steps. Activities will be sent home with your child so they have an opportunity to reinforce what they have learnt in the session.
